not a big fan of making a rush trip to the store on a weekend morning with Dad for some odd reason  

Thousands of mums are planted each Fall at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith We got there a few days past their peak, but it was still an impressive sight of beauty! It was a perfect day for viewing around campus, bright sunshine & temps in the 70's! -there were a few bees buzzing around all of the flowers- Davis said, (with some extra authority) "Don't freak-out, and they won't bother you."

Davis passed Set #6, and now, it's on to the next!! He asked to look at the new set before we got out of the parking lot at school. Before we finished the milkshake party at Sonic, he already knew 80% of his new words! When we got home, he was presented with Speed Racer Disc #2 ! Unfortunately, he will have to wait until next Friday to test again.

at the Nature Center: AUG 2008

Davis was all business about his quarterly trip to the NC. All business about getting his hands dirty with nature. All business about listening to nature. All business about learning & discovering. (obligatory giant birdhouse photo) (seems like he's grown a few feet since our last visit) -back to business- All business about falling leaf fun! All business about chill-axing! All business about doing his own poses! whoopsie, forgot that Mr All Business doesn't pose, he allows the camera to sample his stature and, with a business-like high five, Davis says, "see you in January, 2012!"

Before  Sight Word Testing: Davis studies his sight words every time he passes-by the refrigerator. It's a great study habit that he developed on his own. The innovative system allows him to learn ten (10!) new words each week with ease. The Speed Racer DVD cover is a reminder of his reward for the next six weeks. After Friday's test: Davis is all smiles after he was presented with Disc #1 !!! Bonus: *an exclusive look behind the scenes* Davis at school, standing by his locker:  (we met with his new teacher Friday!)

I wonder how it went? He passed Set #5, and it's on to the next!!! He should be ready to test on the new set (#6!!) next Friday!

Davis tested on Set #4 Friday, but the results were unofficial. We had to wait until Monday to find out for sure. He had his milkshake party Friday, and it was agreed that he could wait for the official word in order to claim his special reward: and, incredibly, Davis had mastered the new set by Tuesday! He's working hard & having a lot of fun at school!

What a beautiful view at Arkansas' second highest peak! Fun on the train ride! The whole gang! We had a wonderful day picnicking and exploring!
