Nature Center

We started-off our NC experience with the long trail around Wells Lake The fantastic aroma of the honey suckle was incredible! After the hike, we were ready for a nice cool-down with some familiar critters   He really knows his way around! and, he can find all the new stuff too somebody has outgrown the not-so-giant birdhouse! Mom & Dad are just gonna have to deal with  the fact that he's a big kid now.  He is very inquisitive too  and loved using the large magnifier on the bird bones   of course, he's a pro with the interactive computer exhibit  a short drive for a lot of learning fun! The high-five (or four) bobcat is back! We'll be back in another 3 months!

Our Graduate

2012 Kindergarten Graduate

"Hey Mom,

what's your password?" That's something we didn't anticipate hearing from our 6 year old. It happened yesterday when he wanted to log-on to the computer. Today, he remembered the password (or had it written down somewhere) and started earning his Octonaut creature cards. (supporting the new Razorback coach with his shirt)

Thanks, Mike!

Octonauts

It's Davis' new-favorite cartoon. (and it's not just a tv show to him...it's so very serious) He has admitted to daydreaming about episodes during school. (incomplete work at school means no tv at home, though) he loves the Octonaut games on the website  the Octonauts seem to be fictional characters that explore, rescue,  and protect all kinds of interesting sea creatures the books are very good, too (he has the one about the spooky coral) they travel around in whimsical 'Gups' -ranging from the Gup A to the Gup E Davis is proud of the creature cards that he has earned: blue whale, wolf eel, snot sea cucumber, jellyfish, whale shark and narwal

Tri-state Speedway

Saturday night at the racetrack = big excitement for Davis! One of his favorite ones was 4+4 He was so excited when his #6 picked up 2 wins! Beautiful sunset One tired boy, was asleep in the car on the way home!

SPF 30+ Fun

Any task that involves looking at himself in a mirror is tremendous fun for Davis:

Celebration!

The celebration of Davis' sight word mastery has carried-over to another day. After school on Friday, he worked to plan and put together his congratulatory party. Today before tee ball practice, we enjoyed tasty treats with very festive surroundings: Congratulations Davis!

43 milkshakes later...

Davis passed the final Sight Word Set! Here he is at school this morning with his certificate: So proud of our big learner! (Davis is the first boy in his class to pass all 43, only 2 girls were a little faster) Over 400 words! From short & easy sight words ( a ) to funny ones ( but -not that one, the other but) to the more challenging ( exclaimed ). His mastery of sight words has significantly  boosted his ever-expanding reading abilities! He did a lot of hard work,  and kept a positive attitude the whole time. We practiced different strategies, and relaxation techniques -so all of the  test-taking would be less stressful.  And, he even managed to have more than a few milkshakes along the way! (we did impose a limit of only one per week- he passed 8 tests over the last two weeks!) after school, a special reward bag was waiting: (some new books and a blue bouncy ball)

Tee Ball try-outs are complete! Davis got drafted in the first round (along with all of the other kids). It's a non-traveling league in FS. He's 1 of 3 LES players on his team. We don't know the team name yet, but they already have a major sponsor:

Arvest Ballpark

Meet DJ the Sasquatch  Strike, the real sasquatch, liked Davis' style It turned out to be a very late night, (with fireworks after the game) but we had a lot of fun!
