Popcorn & Honey

Mimi's flowering tree is in full bloom! It has a distinctive smell, for sure. (about 3 weeks later-blooming than last year)

No, really?

Yes, really. Davis took a bite, then asked for another bite of.... -a fried oyster- (he didn't know what he was trying at first, and then was a little surprised to find out what it was)

Fancy Fish Restaurant

Flying Fish - Little Rock A proud captain of a cool kid's boat! Davis remembered this posted message  from his last visit. He thinks more places should adopt this policy. The fortune-telling fish kept insisting that everyone was tired. Not exactly what we needed to hear before embarking on our trek. We walked through the River Market down to Broadway Street. We then proceeded over the bridge to the stadium for many innings of jump-around exhaustion. In the end, the fish was 100% correct. We have a system worked-out when we attend baseball games at Dickey-Stephens Ballpark. First, we park for free at the NLR municipal building parking lot. Next, we hop on a trolley at the nearby stop. On this ride, we got to see a lot of the tulip plantings. Thousands of tulips are planted in large planters, medians, and green spaces around businesses. There were a lot of tulips in full bloom, but it will be another week before they are at their highest peak. The blue line tr...

Razorback Baseball in the Rock!

The baseball Razorbacks play just one game this season at the Traveler's ballpark in N.Little Rock. Tickets for the game sell-out fast, which makes for an extra-exciting atmosphere! We were surprised that the kid's play area was up and running (the Travelers' season is still over a week away). It's the best ballpark kid's area we've been to! Six big inflatables, playground equipment, a wiffleball field, and a large area for running around. Spoon-sanity in North Little Rock!!! Davis cheered for #8 Tyler Spoon and, #25 Dominic Ficoceillo Everybody was concerned if the Hogs could eek-out a win. The Delta Devils had the bases loaded  in the 9th inning with only one out. While both teams were putting-up zeros on the scoreboard in the middle innings, we made a super financial decision. The best $3 ever spent! (unlimited jump-around access) (well, until they let all of the air out of everything after the end of the 7th inning) The Razo...

Make it a Double!

A double milkshake! We were so excited about his behavior card  that we didn't look in his homework folder  -until this morning.  Inside, we saw his quarterly grade report! Davis made all O's !!!  ('O' is for Awesome!) ...and...yet another note from his teacher... Such a wonderful compliment! This makes us so very proud as parents! The note really defines Davis as a person. Davis goes to school with the goal of making good grades. But, he will put the needs of others above his own. Even if it's a kid that he doesn't know too well. Even if he knows the kid 'well, isn't a good kid' (as Davis would say). Everyone needs someone at times. We all work better as part of a team, and nobody gets left off of a team. And every team has a leader. Coaches, managers, trainers, and assistants are essential parts of a team as well. In the major leagues, teams often employ specialized 'exercise coordinators' (yes, the...

Efficiency

Davis' hair dries on its own while he shaves!

Milkshake Party!

for a written compliment from his teacher! it's only Tuesday and his teacher complimented him about 'working so hard this week'

CheeBurger

No pickles, please.

A Palace for Middle America

we made a quick pit stop to check-out some new scenery on campus (Spring Break is a good time to tour the UofA) a new, humble sign is paired with  nice, well-maintained landscaping  it makes a good impression on future recruits (big jumping ability = free tuition) Well done, UofA!

Crystal Bridges

It was too cold & rainy to be spending much time outside! The grounds surrounding the beautiful exhibit halls are immaculate! On our next trip, we'll have to plan to spend time exploring the outdoor displays. Inside, it was nice and warm! We saw the temporary Norman Rockwell exhibit (no photography allowed). The quality & quantity of the paintings is beyond description. It's a very popular exhibit, too. Over-crowding of the exhibit hall took away from what could have been a very positive experience, however.

Spring Breaking It!

Congrats!

Alex wore #2 and played short stop for the Naturals last year: Davis can attest that Alex is a real personable guy. In addition to signing a baseball and  having a great picture taken, Alex even spent some time talking with DJ. If Davis ever makes it to the professional ranks, he will always remember the fans! A little extra for the little fans makes a huge impression! Just a few more weeks until Opening Day!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

wearing plenty of green! Davis & his school art project (Shiloh is exempt from being pinched)

Shopping with Davis

trying-on for size: a 20" bike might be next on our list a full-size catcher's mitt... maybe 10 years from now size 1.5 baseball cleats... they're in the bag! (practice starts in a few weeks) It's hazardous duty being a catcher. However, they do have the most equipment options (more opportunity for individual styling). An important note about baseball: Even Hall of Fame players endured streaks of several games without a hit. The crucial factor in overcoming a slump: Looking good. Getting back to business with style, class  & neatness until the next time the ball finds  an open place to land between fielders. Our future Hall of Famer is quickly learning the iPhone 5 Next door to the sporting goods store, DJ found a toy that Shiloh can upgrade to... once she starts respecting other people's stuff more often.
