Spookiness

Davis' spooky Halloween craftiness:  Shiloh is somewhat camouflaged, but she's right beside her buddy

Game Plan

Davis' strategy for his next PE class at school:

Morning Smile

School mornings or weekends, Davis is a happy guy.  Occasionally, there might be some sour notes, but they are brief. Impressively, Davis can self-monitor his attitude and make adjustments to improve a downward-heading situation.  In addition, he can be very resourceful in devising a plan that will improve almost any outcome.  If his primary plan involves too much of a potential mess, he usually has a more reasonable backup plan.

Team Player

Nature Center

It's time for our quarterly meeting at the Nature Center! (it really does seem like we visit more than 4 times a year) On this visit, we saw the elusive Arkansas Chocolate Tarantula with our own eyes! Somehow, the Giant Birdhouse keeps getting smaller & smaller! Davis is really starting to notice the neat architecture & design work Piano lessons might be in his future with another few inches. Hmm. There is a drastic change in themes from one room to the next. Perhaps we should... No, we shall let the snake have his privacy while it eats. (coyote photobomb) (double-pumped the hand sanitizer on the way out) striking the deer pose And, with a gentle high five  to the frozen bobcat, we say,  "See you at the Nature Center in 2014!"

Fun with Cryogenics

Stink Bug + Ziplock Bag + Freezer = Fun ! Just when we thought bug season was over! The 'cyrogenic treatment' seems to inhibit any malodorous exuditions (it's also fun making-up words) An overnight 'nap' in the freezer allows us to examine this normally off-limits critter up close! All of the photo-taking can become tiresome, however. Shiloh Photobomb!

Rock Star Day

It's Spirit Week at Davis' School! (maybe the spray paint will wash-out of his hair soon enough) Shiloh is ready for her purple fur treatment!

Block Party

During the Block Party at DJ's school, we were leaving the bounce-arounds when the announcement blared, "Coach P's students will now perform their dance routine." I figured it was the 3rd & 4th Graders, since Davis hadn't said anything about learning dance moves during PE. Kids began assembling, and many of them looked to be Davis' size. I asked, "Do you know anything about this?" Then the music started. Davis didn't respond to my question. He just started walking and got into a spot in the dance formation: if viewer is not working:   Click HERE for link It was a total surprise to see him dancing. Davis will usually balk and act shy when asked to perform in front of people. And, there was a lot of people at the block party. He could have easily told me that he didn't know about the dance, and we would have kept walking. After the song ended, Davis had a big smile on his face. Awesome!

Pink Out

From Davis' principal: Davis really enjoys dress-up days Today is no exception! He's excited about the bubble part, too Shiloh wore her pink collar and got to ride with Davis to school (she gets to ride on 'Furry Fridays') (Davis' idea, he likes alliterations)

Homage to the 'Ombres

Somewhat hidden in a wooded area of Camp Pike is the restored main gate.  It recognizes the famed "Texas-Oklahoma Division" of WWII. Davis doesn't have any personal connections to the 90th Division, but we do have a deep respect for the Tough 'Ombres. The original gate at Camp Pike was built in 1919:  It recognized the 3rd Infantry Division,  which was returning from WWI.

Farmer's Market

Davis was given some cash to do some shopping... What would he choose to buy? Cool, Colorful Corn? A 1/2 Pint Pumpkin? A Super-Sized Sweet Potato? We have a winner! (and, he named it Tiny )
