Corn Island Royalty

He's done a phenomenal job as Kansas City's everyday  starter at third base! There's serious talk about Cheslor as a candidate for Rookie of the Year honors. Let's Go Royals!

Gordo!

It's not too often that a current MLB All Star plays in Springdale. Alex Gordon! He recently snubbed the large market teams and signed a 4 year contract worth $72 million to stay in Kansas City. Alex was rehabilitating a broken wrist for a few games before re-joining the Royals' active roster. Before the game, Davis got to meet & greet: #11 C Alan de San Miguel , and #21 RHP Mark Peterson Because he's such a huge fan... DJ was picked to deliver the game ball as part of the opening ceremony! He saw himself on the stadium's new, giant HD video screen  and gave a big wave to the crowd! (video to be posted later) Later in the game, Davis was recognized by some  fans walking around the concourse. "I kinda like being a little famous." (It was a group of girls) It's the Naturals' new left fielder! (for a few games) A new signature addition! (thanks, Alex!) Naturals ...

Star Wars Night

One of the more popular themes on the entire schedule! The first 15 kids wearing costumes were awarded special prizes. We already have enough Frisbees and foam fingers, (& it was HOT) so DJ wore a Royal blue SW shirt. (the Princess Leia hair bun headband does look cute on him, though)  But, the ushers considered  DJ's shirt to be a costume -and gave him a baseball signed by Royals' top prospect Matt Strahm ! It's #24 RHP Matt Alvarez and  #18 LHP Kyle Bartsch (wearing specially designed,  one-game only Chewbacca-inspired uniforms) Dark side fun? ....didn't notice this before.... Kylo Ren is applying some type of  telekinetic chicken claw  hold on me? (maybe the gesture would make  more sense if I had seen the movie) A fun day at the ballpark! Go Naturals!

Moose Tacos

A unique-sounding instagram account belongs to one of the more accomplished third-basemen playing the game today.   Recently, he was rehabilitating a broken thumb for a few games with the NWA Naturals. Would we get a chance to see him play at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale?  DJ last saw Moose  at Arvest Ballpark in 2011. It can be a tough challenge to get an autograph and/or photo. Especially with  moosetacos8 .   Mike Moustakas, after all, is a current World Series Champ/All Star/Gold Glove Winner with many thousands of other fans. With a crowd gathered at the end of the home dugout, Moose suddenly rushed out & signed just one baseball before the game started! He was in too much  of a hurry for a photo, however...  We understood. When a player signs a baseball, inscriptions (added words) increase its value. Most players occasionally add their jersey number, or pos...

Call Up

When we booked our trip to watch the Royals play  at Yankee Stadium, we had no idea that DJ's favorite Storm Chaser would follow us. The Royals' regular third baseman got hurt, so the call went out for #19 Then, it was off to NYC for #19 & DJ!  Seeing Cheslor play in Yankee Stadium was going to be awesome! We were a little late getting to our seats. Davis spotted #19 warming up on the field. Cheslor was throwing a baseball with Eric Hosmer. It was cool. From Arvest Ballpark to Yankee Stadium, CFC was now in The Show ! Suddenly, Cheslor caught the last throw from Hoz, then ran over to where we were standing! What the what? Yeah, being recognized by Cheslor Cuthbert was cool. Before : Yankee fans were giving us some lighthearted verbal jabbings. After : Hushed silence. Until the game started. Then, more than a few of them started  giving Cheslor some respectful applause each time he...

Naturally,

it needed to be added to DJ's collection. Since 1869, fewer than 17,000  professional baseball players have had a debut game in the Major Leauges. Until last October, the number that played their first MLB game  during the World Series was zero . It took a current Northwest Arkansas Natural to be the first and only player to do it!

It's Cheslor!

Is #19 DJ's favorite Royal? Cheslor Cuthbert had an awesome 2015: *MLB All Star Futures Game* *Spent time on the Active Roster* (enough time to earn a WS ring) *Hit his 1st Major League Home Run* Cheslor also managed to have  a prominent role in the World Series highlight. When the final out was recorded,  Cheslor (wearing a jacket & knit cap)  was the first player to race out of the dugout  for the on-field celebration. CFC also signed a great photo  from this year's Spring Training for DJ!

Royal Memories

Such awesome memories from the World Series! It all began with crazy, unexpected news: Raul went straight from Springdale to the Kansas City Royals! We considered giving DJ a full-sleeve sharpie tattoo as a celebration for the promotion. DJ's most recent tatt was from Raul, himself -before his last game at Arvest Ballpark. The next morning, Davis woke-up early & scrubbed it off -after we had joked about getting it permanently inked on his arm.   DJ had a chance to have a permanent connection to baseball history.   After 110 years of the World Series, nobody had ever played their first Major League game on its biggest stage -until Raul did it.   Of course, the WS games were riveting & so very Royal in every way! DJ was thrilled to see all of the former Naturals  that he's been cheering for since 2008! Like Mike Moustakas & Paulo Orlando & Christian Colon & Cheslor Cuth...
