Tempered Bulldozing

Last year we found a pathway lined with long-ago planted daffodils. This year, there was evidence the area had been scraped with a bulldozer. The pathway is no more. Some of the plantings on the hillside still remain, however. A little sad that the pathway is gone, but glad part of the many-decades-ago planted daffodils remain.

Warmth

It's in there somewhere...

Hey, DJ!

Davis still had a touch of a cough, so he didn't get to play in the snow. But, he did get to check the mail. He was surprised to find that someone had delivered a message to him via 'snow-mail' !

Watching the Snowfall

DJ found a nice, relaxing spot to watch the snowfall.

Davis' Appearance @ Baum Stadium

Soon after we got settled into our seats at the ballgame, it was announced that Davis had been picked for the 'Fly Ball Frenzy' following the 5th inning. We reported to the customer services office and they explained exactly what he would be doing. He was given an adult-sized glove and would have 3 chances to catch a baseball thrown up into the air by a staff member. A prize would be awarded for each catch. So very exciting! We had a half-inning to strategize before he would make his first on-field appearance during a Razorback game. Relax. Have fun.  No matter what happens, we're so proud. And, we discussed one of the more important mantras of life: when you don't have complete control of the end result, you still have control of how well you look doing it  -style always counts. PA Announcer: "and now, competing in the Fly Ball Frenzy, from [L-town], Arkansas, Davis [L-name] !" It was time. He hustled out to the prede...

Winter Break Vacay

and our first baseball game of 2013! and due to the impending bad weather, we saw 2 ballgames for the price of 1! (they moved-up Wednesday's game and played a doubleheader) there are more photos to follow, but Davis had a unique experience that involved an on-field appearance! After raising the roof at Baum Stadium, (Arkansas won both games vs the U.of NewOrleans) we went to the place where all hog fans go for good eats- Catfish Hole!

He got it.

-his first lecture on distracted driving. Honking the horn (to show-off) means less attention is being paid to where the bike is going. It's imperative for novice riders to keep both hands on the bars.  And, since we're still having to run alongside him, he got a stern & breathless wag of the finger. Bicycles have been added to our shopping lists. The thought of Davis being comfortable enough riding his bike to start showing-off boggles the mind. He was coasting and balancing (with a little pedaling) a few months ago, but nothing like he did yesterday.  It's a big change in his world going from training wheels to serious pedal-powered speed. So very proud! Let the Pedal Parties Begin!

Goodbye training wheels!

Outstanding!

With Davis' most recent grade report, it's official. We've known all along that he's a good student, but not to this extent (to be honest). He received all O's!   Part of his reward was picking-out a book at the school's book fair. So proud of our hard-working student!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Snackified

There's a few different resources available to define the word 'snackified.' From a dictionary book:   [snak- uh - fide ]  \adj\  to be especially content with a small food item      (origins: American slang, frontier region, esp. W.Arkansas, circa 2005)   Or, from a Google 'image search' of the word: (there's always at least one irrelevant result in any search-engine query)  Snackified.

A Reward Party! After another incredibly great week of school! A written compliment from his teacher =  a special party! This time, he requested a McDonald's Play-Land Party  ...at breakfast time... A very fun reward for a job well done!
