They're here.

Daffodils! Early-blooming springtime awesomeness! There will be many, many more over the next 3 months!

Planning for Springing in the Training of the Breaking

With gas prices down, we're planning a road venture for Spring Break!   The plan is to stop at the Lego Discovery in  Dallas on our way to and from Phoenix, AZ.   Why Phoenix?   So Davis can cheer-on the defending Champions of the American League!   Why 2 trips to Lego Discovery?   The boy had the option of a 1/2 day at a huge indoor waterpark in Phoenix. He chose a second visit on the way home to Lego Discovery in Dallas instead.   Excited for Legos, vast stretches of desert vistas, and Kansas City Royals Baseball! Spring Training for Spring Break! (KC will be the visiting team vs Seattle)    DJ is excited for the former NWA Naturals  that were named to the Royals' 40 man roster. There's a good chance we'll get to see them -along with some current Naturals that have been invited to Spring Training!

Knugget of Knowledge

Just his size

Even though he might be able to reach the pedals, the boy is more than a decade away from driving reality. (hoping self-driving smart cars are available & affordable by that time)

Remember

that silence is sometimes the best answer

Dress-Up Day

at DJ's school! It was homecoming week, so there was a special 'show-your-spirit-dress-up-theme' for each day. With class photos scheduled for today, it was a nice theme & should result in a great-looking class picture!

Aspire to Achieve

Tomayto, Tomahto

It's a good bet that the Breaking News App editor has never called the Hogs.

For Scientific Use Only

Davis enjoys everything science. Lately, he has re-discovered his laser thermometer.   With this non-toy, the budding scientist recorded: Candle, 352 ° Mom's hand, 92 ° Door Knob, 60 ° Ice Cube, -30 °

Bovine Certainty

Nature Center

We're back at the Janet Huckabee River Valley Nature Center! Our first quarterly trip of 2015 started with awesome weather! First, we had business to take care of inside: The boy has literally grown-up  alongside this giant birdhouse! ...and he just had to strike a pose with the deer Lots of new outside stuff is on the way! Everything should be ready for our next visit! We are even considering a canoe excursion in the spring! With the sun setting, it started cooling down quickly. The spider was ready to abandon his web. We spent more time outside than usual for a January visit! No worries about splinters! With a gentle high-five for the frozen bobcat, we will return in April!

Possumhaw!

It's quite possibly the best botanical name ever! Native to our area, it's a bird favorite. The common name flows off the tongue much better than the Latin term for this berry-iffic shrub: Davis thinks it's funny to wait until everything is quiet... ...and then yell...  POSSUMHAW!!!!

Notable Quotable

Action

Winter days often mean inside recess & watching a short movie. Sometimes, he can brave the cold when he gets home  & star in his own action movie! His buddy & co-star Sophie agrees.

Practice

makes for better results with the puzzle gloves:

Funny? Maybe Not.

Davis enjoys good humor. However, he will quickly disapprove if it's mean-spirited. Funny? Maybe not.

Half Year Measurement

4 feet, 5 inches tall! With his newly discovered height, Davis enjoys helping out by reaching for things "way up high." He also has a new, important responsibility: feeding Shiloh dog at dinner time. Davis is getting bigger everyday, increasing his level of responsibility, & continues to build good character traits. We love our growing boy so very much!

They're On The Way

Daffodils! Our favorite springtime flowers are working very hard to produce some great colors! -with, of course, some encouragement from DJ.

DJ Tested,

Shiloh Approved! *Shiloh did not consume any of these cookies, she gave her tacit approval through sniffing & tail wagging*

Not Terrified, but Critterfied!

It's one of the more interesting critters DJ has encountered. A critter that would require a lot of socks, if it so desired to wear them. Dark & drab on one side... Bright & colorful on the flip side! Usually winter is a slow season for finding critters. Lucky for us! -and the bird that was treated to a tasty meal!
