Daddy got fired from posting on the blog? He has been relieved of his blogging responsibilities. It had to happen sooner or later. The posting-pattern of new posts on every odd numbered day of the month with extra posts scattered on even numbered days has come to an end. It's been fun with Daddy being able to help-out with taking pictures and writing posts (and he had a lot of fun doing it!). Yesterday, we found out that Daddy's potential job offer is becoming more certain (will know for sure within 2 weeks). Unfortunately, it has taken him out of the blogging loop. Now, Mommy will be back in the driver's seat of the blog. This next week will be crazy, but I'll post whenever I catch my breath!

is what Mommy said after seeing Davis' new haircut.     Of course Daddy gets his hair cut at Ft. Chaffee,  so when Davis goes along to get his cut,  it shouldn't be too surprising when DJ  comes home with a short buzz cut. The haircuts are inexpensive, fast, and last a long time. (the only question as far as styling goes, is 'same as usual?') Davis sat all by himself in the barber's chair, with Daddy watching from the waiting area. He didn't mind the noisy clippers or the scissors at all. Lisa was very impressed. Davis should be good on haircuts for the next 6 months

The fridge gopher is a curious little creature. He has good intentions, but is not too consistent if asked to fetch a particular item. We think stepping up inside the fridge was the only way he could reach the blue container that he has had his eye on for who knows how long. He's getting noticeably more inventive, creative, and daring (yikes), day by day. We have added several things to the 'off limits/hands-off' list, but never thought the ledge inside the refrigerator would be on it.

Davis is going through a Monster Truck phase. First thing in the morning, he's talking about them. It will continue throughout the day, as he begs to see them on TV or on the computer. He's even renamed one of his cars to be a Monster Car and takes it into the bath for a car wash.  We tivo'd the Monster Truck cartoon on TLC, but he'll watch 10 minutes of it at the most (which is just fine). Davis also likes Monster Truck videos on YouTube. He thinks the big trucks racing around the small arenas are funny. Not ever did I think that I would find myself at a Monster Truck Show, but if the little man wants to go, (if he can get in for free, and if cameras are allowed) it's difficult to say no. We'll have to find ear plugs and matching tank top shirts. TiVo Love: calming the child with 2 minutes of Monster Trucks during a commercial break of the Razorback game. Davis will watch a little basketball (he has one of the more comfortable seats in the house)....

It was a cold night for soccer, but Davis was ready to hit the road to Greenwood to see his cousin Jonathan play soccer for the Southside Rebels. This game was an early one...usually they don't start until 7:45pm or so and that's pretty late for Davis to be out. When it warms up maybe it won't be so bad. (he's wearing the T-shirt over his red jacket and wore his mittens most of the time, I mean he kept taking them off :) Cheering for Jonathan #15! He's in his senior season at SHS, and it's very difficult for Mommy to realize that he's graduating this year! Wow! Davis stayed warm by pacing the steps of the bleachers (Davis really likes Katy's deck shoes! Thanks for keeping him occupied!) Davis and his cousin Katy! Later at home, just before bedtime, Davis got the word that the Rebs had defeated the Bulldogs! Even in his pj's Davis still wanted to wear his soccer shirt!

Over the weekend, we took a road trip to check out the aquarium in Dallas. It's located downtown with all the tall buildings! (Davis stopped watching his movie to awe at the skyline). From Frisco, we travelled the toll road 20 miles to the DWA, but when added to the cost to park, it was still less than $10. The internet directions were spot-on, taking a lot of potential stress out of the trip (plus Mommy used to live in Dallas). The lady behind the ticket counter thought Davis was cute enough to get admitted for free. The aquariums and exhibits (not just fish!) are spread out over 3 floors and took us over 2 hours to see everything. Davis saw lots of big fish! We can tell he's kinda proud of himself differentiating between big and little -Mommy & Daddy both agreed that this was a big fish. There are several walk-thru fish tanks, including a shark tunnel. Davis liked the smaller reef fish tunne...

We drove through rain the entire length of the way down here yesterday. Davis thought it was the longest car wash ever. We fixed the portable DVD player before the trip, and it was a good thing. Davis watched a couple of his home videos before settling-in to watch the entire Cars movie. He took a regular 90 minute nap, but no poopie! The little dude held it the whole way -maybe the rainstorms (or big carwash) had him a little frazzled. We checked-in our hotel room in Frisco (just outside of the Big D) at about 3pm. It has a king size bed, and Davis took up at least half of it sleeping last night. We ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory -an awesome meal (and 2 leftover to go meals as well). Today, it's off to the Dallas Aquarium before returning home. Davis will have to say bye bye to the Frisco water tower (excellent view of it from the room), the aligator (elevator), and the big bed! We enjoyed our time in Frisco, it has every imaginable type of store! (Bombay ...

Mommy's cornbread is so good, Davis couldn't help but to sample a bite before saying grace two hands ensure that the cornbread makes it into the mouth in a timely manner Davis thinks Mommy's cornbread is so good, he calls it 'cake' and getting to eat cake before finishing his rice is funny stuff! We know it's time to give-up the act now: In the mornings, Davis is always expected to finish his bowl of oatmeal. In the past, we have been overly creative to coax him into taking the last bite. Airplanes making noises used to be a favorite. Not so much anymore. We think this is a photo of Davis mocking us.

My name is Davis Jim. I have stinky feet and big brown eyes. I like belly buttons and toes. When Mommy or Daddy isn't watching, I'll sneak up on them and tickle their toes. I sometimes get into trouble for jumping on the couch. When I don't listen to the word 'stop,' Mommy tells me to go to my room for 60 seconds of timeout. I always hear her, and occasionally, I'll go to timeout on my own. I am the master of crying without shedding tears. I do lots of chores around the house. I put things in my clothes hamper and in the trash. Sometimes trash ends-up in the sink, but I'm just showing-off that I can reach up high. I help Daddy feed the dogs, and I always have to remind him to bring them some water too. My favorite TV show is Ellen. She dances a lot and makes me laugh. Davis has fun with his Eric Carle alphabet flash cards, even though some of the animals are a little foreign to Mommy and Daddy. We had never heard of a xolo before (short for Xoloitzcuintli, the Mexican hairless dog, or so says Mr. Carle). There was also a protracted debate on how 'quetzal' should be pronounced. By a flip of the coin, (surely not by any fundamental difference in schooling) Mommy's SHS Spanish experience trumped Daddy's encounter with French class at PBHS. Davis thinks that some animals are funnier than others, and sometimes will miss one on purpose (which adds to the fun of the routine). We're starting to work on the letter side of the flash cards, but we're also thinking that we might want to try to reserve some of his brain power to get started on his potty training.

When the weather called for temperatures in the mid 60's, there was no doubt where we were going to take Davis. Ben Geren Park is only about a 20 minute drive from the house and offers the best variety of slides and plenty of room for the little boy to run around. Even when the park is a little crowded, Davis is usually able to find a slide section not being used and have it all to himself. After a short period of time, he'll go over to the crowded area and do some social sliding. Fast slides, bumpy slides, super slides and super super slides -BGP has it all! Daddy has fun taking pictures too. He's getting a lot of practice, and still learning things about the camera. BGP is close to the airport, so Davis has lots of moments to take a pause and check out airplanes Davis tried-out the fast blue slide and started climbing on this trip!
