Movie Night

DJ's first drive-in movie experience! He had a lot of fun!

A Documentation of Fact

First chewing-gum bubble! It took a lot of trying! He did it!

Davis' Appearance @ Baum Stadium

Soon after we got settled into our seats at the ballgame, it was announced that Davis had been picked for the 'Fly Ball Frenzy' following the 5th inning. We reported to the customer services office and they explained exactly what he would be doing. He was given an adult-sized glove and would have 3 chances to catch a baseball thrown up into the air by a staff member. A prize would be awarded for each catch. So very exciting! We had a half-inning to strategize before he would make his first on-field appearance during a Razorback game. Relax. Have fun.  No matter what happens, we're so proud. And, we discussed one of the more important mantras of life: when you don't have complete control of the end result, you still have control of how well you look doing it  -style always counts. PA Announcer: "and now, competing in the Fly Ball Frenzy, from [L-town], Arkansas, Davis [L-name] !" It was time. He hustled out to the prede...

Our Baby's First...

Yes, it seems like only yesterday we were changing baby diapers. Today, our baby endorsed his first check. (written fast & with a little extra flair, like a real signature) Tomorrow, he will be driving me to my doctor appointment.

!

Davis lost his first tooth this afternoon!  He may be getting a special visitor tonight!

Breaking News

Davis passed his first test! He memorized ten sightwords! He must have felt a lot of pressure today leading-up to the test. We try to make learning fun, but he's on his own in the class room. (Davis does have a wonderful teacher, though... and, a big thanks to his Pre K teachers too!) Even if he wasn't able to pass the first time,  we knew he could do it eventually. But, we had a sneaking suspicion that he would pass today. He had a positive attitude and a determined walk going into the school building this morning. Davis did it! He passed on his first try! The first few weeks of Kindergarten were tough. New routines, different surroundings. With everything else, and he still manages to learn his words. We are so very proud of our boy!!!!! Now, he's reaping the rewards of all the hard work- (it involved a bunch  of Hot Wheels cars and a special reward that will require some assembly). (Mom is the assembly-required expert...

Kung Pao

Shrimp (a lot of drama for one itty bitty nibble)                                              (not sure if he will be ordering it for himself anytime soon) (but he does continue to try new things!) Davis' first visit!

First Fish

(Mommy actually caught the fish, but Davis was helping the whole time, and was really close when it took the bait)

D-A-V-I-S

writing his name for the first time: (left-handed)

Ice Hogs

Davis' first hockey game! Hockey is an intramural sport at the UofA  (no scholarships, no school funding) Today was the most important game of the season- playing against Texas A&M in Dallas at the awesome professional hockey arena! Davis started calling the hogs early and often! (the players have to pay for their own uniforms & equipment) Davis had a blast! (we soon learned that the green ledge is not a good place to set a drink- the players crash so hard, right in front of us!- Davis called the crashes 'catastrophes'  we could not have been any closer to the action! Davis decided that he wants to be a professional hotel pool swimmer by day, and a part-time Zamboni driver by night  the goalie had a very cool helmet- something that the little boy could use when playing tag Arkansas played great, but A&M won the game #20 (third Razorback to the right) is Davis' favorite Ice Hog... ...because... even after ...

first stitches    Davis crashed into the edge of an open door yesterday afternoon. Mom & Dad were both right there when it happened, and feel terrible. His lip was split so wide open, and bleeding heavily- we knew right away that we had to get moving fast to the ER. After 4 numbing shots and 3 stitches, Davis was back to his normal routine after a few hours.  His appetite is good, and he's adjusting well to some new rules in the house ( slowing-down ).  Davis has reassured us that the accident was nobody's fault,  and everything is going to be OK.

First School Picture!

Wow! What a good looking student! It seems like we were changing diapers just a few months ago. Now, Davis has started his academic endeavors and is so much more independent.

First Trophy

The 2009 Tee Ball campaign has come to a successful ending! it's Davis' first trophy

Batter Up!

Davis got his first tee ball set today! He's been wanting his own bat for quite a while. Indoor batting practice will be allowed for the first few broken windows. and, it won't be too long before that happens! -notice how he's shifting his weight to his back leg for more power in his swing! He's naturally swinging left-handed our #1 baseball player!
