Royals' FanFest!

It's the best way to spend
a winter weekend!
300,000 square feet of
everything Royal!
Kansas City is always
a fun place for us to go,
but this day was exceptional.
It was fun to see moments
that Davis remembered,
"There's Terrance Gore!"
(winning the 2014
American League Championship)
From the winning pitcher
of the final 2015 World Series game,
to the 2x WS Champ and
Royals' First Base Coach,
Rusty Kuntz.
He was coaching runners
in one of the kids' areas,
and was nice enough
to sign a baseball for DJ.
DJ's first Green Screen appearance!
"Mi hermanito!
Lo Lo Cain!"
It's the Royals' broadcast personality,
Rex "Wonderdog" Hudler.
He's known for his quick quips such as,
"be a fountain, not a drain"
and
"he got to go"

Sometimes, fans become famous.
Sometimes, they try & fail.
Sometimes they become famous by failing.
Sometimes, not.
Davis is still working
to build his superfan personality
Some superfans even cash
paychecks from the Royals:
It's KayCee Baseball,
the keeper of lore from the
1886 Kansas City Antelopes,
to the 1914 K.C. Monarchs.
In 2014 he began 'hanging the big W on the board'
high on the outfield wall after Royal home wins.
We didn't know this guy's name.
But, somehow DJ guessed it.
It's the Omaha Storm Chasers mascot
from the Royals' AAA farm team.
Stormy, is his/her/its name.
Maybe this year,
we'll make the trek to Omaha
for a series of games!
A familiar sight!
Davis was allowed to go
'on the other side of the ropes'
for a photo with the Arvest Ballpark backdrop.
(they also gave us free game tickets)

before 2015, there was 1985:
The Royals' first World Series trophy!
Davis can listen intently
about stories from 1985.
"Was Siri born yet?
Let's ask her"

(click above to view the video)

"Oh. He seems to get upset
when the umpire deferred to others
instead of thinking for himself.
Oh, my.
I don't think Siri was born yet.
Oh, my."

The last time we were in KC,
we basically had lunch with Salvador Perez.
It was a small restaurant, and it was
just his group & ours -eating empanadas
(and later took some photos & signed a baseball).
Since that time,
Sal & his teammates won the World Series,
he was named Most Valuable Player,
and also appeared on The Tonight Show.

We went back to the same restaurant
(didn't see his WS MVP prize parked in the lot)
-it was packed with Royals fans
Go Royals!

欢乐中国的明天!

How about having Chinese food tomorrow?      Great! December 13th is Chinese Tomorrow! What is Chinese Tomorrow? When families get together for Chinese food and celebrate everything that is 'put-off' until tomorrow.   Here are a few rules: Everyone wears black (the actual day 'tomorrow' is dark & never sees a sunrise) Celebrate things that are put-off until tomorrow (find joy in those normally unpleasant procrastinations) Choose just one person to open a single fortune cookie (everyone else must wait until tomorrow ) Blog about it (post the fortune's lucky numbers as the title) Enjoy the great food! (Chinese food buffets are the best!)  欢乐中国的明天!

Happy New Year!
