It's one of the most exciting Wednesday's -ever! Students are encouraged to wear pajamas, so Davis decided on his penguin PJ's. Plenty of Polar Express activities are planned throughout the day! On the way to school, we talked about how many of the kids in his class might be wearing PJ's. Davis guessed the number would be less than 10. We'll see. *Update: Davis reports that the day was "fun". And, he was surprised that 'many' more than 10 of his classmates were dressed-up (even his teacher!). The most fun was when all of the 1st Grade classes packed into the same room to watch part of the movie,  Polar Express . Davis has several friends in different classes, and he always enjoys seeing them. Davis said that some kids wore house shoes, while others wore regular shoes with their PJ's. One kid in Davis' class packed an extra pair of shoes for school. He wore his house shoes in class, and changed to his regular shoes for recess. So...

Of course, tomorrow never truly arrives. But for us, every 13th of December is Chinese Tomorrow! It's a long-standing tradition that we unknowingly started celebrating exactly one year ago. Our 2nd Annual Chinese Tomorrow was as delightful as an over-flowing plate of sweet-and-sour-sauced crab rangoon! Thankfully, we arrived early before it got too crowded and too loud. Davis shared some good stories from school about the 3 B's and how his class won a cookie-cake party. It was nice to put-aside the business of an average day and catch-up with small talk. Once the fortune cookies arrived at the table, Davis chose first and read his aloud. It was probably the most fitting fortune, but we won't know for sure. The other fortune cookies will have to wait until tomorrow before they are opened.

How about having Chinese food for dinner tomorrow? For us, it will be more than just another restaurant meal. It's an annual celebration! You've heard of Chinese New Year? Well, this isn't quite as popular. Yet. It's Chinese Tomorrow A time when families get together and celebrate everything that is put-off until tomorrow!  It's important to appreciate a day that will never see a sunrise! And, it's another example of how blogging can lead to some goofy fun! The Chinese Tomorrow idea began from one of the least-interesting posts of last year: Now, it's a fun annual tradition! And, we can already add some "rules" to the fun: 1. Dine on the 13th of December, regardless of the day of the week 2. Everyone wears black 3. Davis makes us proud everyday. He's such a caring, loving person. And, he's growing up so very fast. His sudden maturity is thankfully balanced by his ever-expanding level of wonder and curiosity. We love you so very much!

It's our flannel post from the area Davis named 'Frozen Christmas Tree Forest' Davis has stated that every place deserves a name,  and he will take it upon himself to provide one.  Last year, this same spot was known to us as 'Little Snapping Turtle Pond' However, after the drought, there's no pond this year. (Last year, Davis wore a half-dozen different shirts at this spot, but no flannel- so it has to bring some luck...and rain!)  We're sure the snapping turtle has found a new home. Maybe with enough winter snow & springtime rain,  the pond will re-appear. (This might be one of his wishes, so we can't say it out loud)
